ABOUT PEDRO OLYMPIO MUSIC
Pedro Olympio is a reputable Music Artist who began their exciting musical voyage of artistic discovery when he was at the age of 8 . Pedro Olympio, who saw his elder sister reading a magazine with a great trumpet player ,told his sister [ I will be like this great trumpet player] .and there began his journey that would make him one of the skilful and anointed jazz trumpet player of today . Pedro Olympio , hails from the beautiful country of Ghana in west Africa . He , took up the trumpet during his primary school days at the famous John Teye School at Ofankor near Accra, and later continued at the Amazing love International School in Denu , the Volta region of Ghana . He is basically of the jazz and blues mould. His ardent desire is to see music styles in the world at large expanded to embrace more engaging approaches.
Pedro Olympio was born in the capital city of Tema .
He studied music at the University of Education at Winneba and has come this far playing live or recording with an array of artistes including Ohemaa Mercy, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Winneba Youth Choir, Rev Bernard Ankomah, Stella Seal, Gifty Osei, Black Prophet And Dr Sonnie Badu . As I relocated to Australia , he had prestigious opportunity of playing with Solange Knowles in the Sydney Opera House , Chevelle Franklyn , Aphrodesia group from San Francisco and Afro Moses . Pedro Olympio have also had the opportunity of playing for the annual Vivid Sydney . Pedro Olympio is also well renowned in the Gospel Arena being a guest minister at several Churches of all sizes and also played for local government councils such as Blacktown, Liverpool and Hornsby shire and the national day of prayer Canberra . Pedro Olympio has a heart for the community and has volunteered for a number of such programs .
Though he admires great trumpet players like James Morrison , Miles Davis, Blue Mitchel, Hugh Masekela, Louis Armstrong and Chet Baker, he admits learning a lot from Ghanaian trumpet player , Osei Tutu.
“The truth is I have learnt valuable things from Ghanaian players of other instruments such as pianist Victor Dey and guitarist Sir Young. That has helped me to form a broad attitude to music,” Olympio states.
